Need zones versus a fixed route
A need zone is a place animals use as part of their movement; the official FAQ says tracks are generated dynamically between zones rather than being only fixed paths. A spooked animal can also generate temporary tracks. The source does not expose every need-zone coordinate or a guaranteed schedule.
Finding zones without assuming map coverage
Use signs and tracks in your current reserve, and turn on high-contrast tracks if visibility is a problem. Third-party maps may show community markers for New Laurentia, but they are not a complete official index and should be checked in-game.
